  This is an eye opening piece that pertains to every form of affair but i will use the marital union as a yardstick as it seems to be a more committed and stronger form of union.This write up is not about an affair which started on a shaky terrain but it is about a romantic affair that was so sweet,calm,beautiful... and all of a sudden like a horror movie,the whole story suddenly turns tragic. 


Everyday, we see headlines about a guy proposing to a lady in a certain unique and romantic way and many ladies begin to fantasize about how and when their bae will do same to them. The wedding ceremony has become more important than the marriage proper and it is no longer news that many marriages crash shortly after the razzmatazz of flamboyant wedding celebration and super romantic pre-wedding shoots and much more. It is pertinent to understand that the only institution created by GOD himself is marriage and nothing gladdens the heart of Satan than to see that same institution destroyed on earth and this is why he will go all the way to see as many breakups as possible in marriages or potential marital union because satan knows that in most cases,break ups breed Adultery and fornication, hatred,disorientation for the children as well as carry over resentment for the partied involved which could be a ground for a recurring breakups. Marriage or any purposeful romantic affair is not a physical union but 100% spiritual but manifesting in the physical and when trouble occurs, it will always seem to be the fault of either the man or the woman when the truth of the matter is that it is most likely to be a spiritual attack that needs spiritual defense. 

While i agree that some people in romantic affairs can be very careless and indiscipline, we must understand that there are some marital conflicts that look so ordinary and usually explainable yet could be as a result of spell from people within or outside the family especially marriages of African descend.
 I have heard of strange things leading to marital break-up.

 -Marriages destroyed because of argument over N20 toothpaste.

 -Man calls off wedding during reception over unguarded comment of the bride made only to his hearing.

 -Man stabs his wife over argument about who gets a larger meat size on the plate.

 -Man beats his wife to death over very flimsy issues.

 -A man or woman suddenly leaves a marriage and children and starts a life with a new person without any logical reason.

 -A man or woman who have been so decent and Godly suddenly starts misbehaving.

 -A man who have proposed marriage to a lady suddenly starts misbehaving and many more instances.


When we start noticing strange changes in a spouse or potential spouse who have before that time maintained a proper status quo,it is not the time to start nagging,cursing,blaming or fulfill the wish of Satan by heading for a break up but that is the time to fight the battle on your kneels,to pray and fast and depend on the creator of that institution to make repairs.

As they say in my dialect;"Obube isi a ghahi agwo isi owuwa.....meaning cutting off the head is never a solution to a lingering head-ache".

 The Abia State government under the able leadership of Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has taken another bold step having accepted to host the CBN – EDC program for the entire Eastern States namely Enugu, Eboyin, Anambra and Imo State respectively.

 Speaking at the first official meeting held in CBN complex Abujayesterday, the deputy director of development finance, Mr Akintunde A. Sowunmi commended Abia State government for accepting to partner with CBN in hosting the EDC program saying that it practically showed, the level of commitment by the Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu administration in the area of job creation in the geo political zone.

 Mr. Akintunde stressed the need to engage participants of the EDC program into gainful start up projects, in line with what they have learnt.
Sequel to the adopted workplan by CBN, implementing agency and host state Abia, it is expected that the south east CBN – EDC program will flag off on or before the end of March 2016 Responding, the chairman of Abia State Technical Board Barr. Nkire said the governor Dr Ikpeazu and indeed the state are grateful for the opportunity given to Abia State to host the program promising, that they will do all it takes to drive the EDC program in the south east.

 Present in the meeting were, the CBN deputy director of development finance Mr Akintunde A. Sowunmi, the CBN crew, Chairman Implimenting Agency Mr Osita Aniemeka, Barr. The Federal Government has warned mobile telecommunication providers to treat Nigerians with decency and play by the rules or face sanctions.

 The Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu, gave the warning in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Victor Oluwadamilare, in Abuja on Wednesday. The statement was issued shortly after the minister met with top officials of MTN Nigeria Communications Limited behind closed doors. Shittu decried the manner Nigerians, especially women, were being treated by telecommunications operators in their bid to comply with the directive issued by the Nigerian Communications Commission on the registration of Subscriber Identification Module cards.

 The statement read in part, “The minister’s office has been inundated with several complaints from Nigerians, particularly women in veil, about the way they were being treated, sometimes humiliated by the workers of the telecommunications companies nationwide. “According to some of the complaints, ‘Women in purdah dresses were requested to remove their veils in the public, despite the request by such women that a place should be provided out of the public glare for only female officials to attend to them, adding that all entreaties failed, but rather, they were allegedly accused of being Boko Haram agents and they were refused registration after several altercations in some of the registration centres.”

 The minister frowned on the development and urged the telecommunications companies involved to accord maximum respect to Nigerians from all walks of life, particularly women, whose feminine nature and religious dispositions should be cherished. Shittu said the Nigerian constitution guaranteed the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion for all citizens, adding that such rights should never be violated by executive or administrative lawlessness, highhandedness and insensitivity. He asked the telecoms companies to tender unreserved apologies, saying it was inhuman and unacceptable to treat Nigerians in a cruel manner. Even the rights of minorities should be respected, he added.

 The minister was quoted as saying, “The inhumane treatment meted out to Nigerians in the course of the ongoing SIM re-registration exercise in the country, where subscribers were made to suffer untold hardships, mostly in the scorching sun and unbearable conditions, is no longer acceptable.

 It will no longer be business as usual. “If the experiences of smaller countries like Rwanda are anything to go by, where operators play according to the rules and where infractions are usually met with stiff penalties, telecoms companies in the country have to brace up or face the brunt of their inadequacies.”

 Melinda Gates and Dangote Foundations have rewarded Nigeria’s Katsina state Government with $1million for maintaining ‘zero-case’ in polio The two foundations were ably represented by their Chairmen, Mr Bill Gates and Alh Aliko Dangote respectively. Katsina state Governor Rt.Hon Aminu Bello Masari expressed the state government’s happiness signed the MoU on wednesday 21st January 2016 at the Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

 Governor said that the gesture would further boost the state government’s efforts in adequately tackling the fight against all child-killer diseases, particularly polio. The funds will be used to provide cold chain equipment for vaccine storage across the state. This will strengthen routine immunization in the state.

  I really don't know how to start this but I pray this medium brings a solution to our problem. I write on behalf of over 50 students whom are all beneficiaries of the Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC) foreign scholarship. In September 2015, we departed for a 12 months Masters programme in the UK. Prior to departure we were informed by NDDC staff that we would pay for visa processing and travel arrangements with our own money with the promise that our allowances would be paid within a month or two on our arrival in the UK. This was shocking to me as I had imagined a commission as big and well funded as the NDDC could easily make necessary arrangements for such just like how PTDF does for its scholars.

  

 I was left with no option but to go begging family and friends to raise the required sum for me to apply for a UK visa, purchase flight tickets and estimated costs for three months accommodation and feeding. I wondered if this was how a foreign scholarship was meant to be. I almost gave up in seeking for assistance but favour smiled on me and I was able to receive donations from family and friends. With the money raised I purchased all I needed and traveled. NDDC had promised to send our allowances by the end of October. On arrival at school I realized that the accommodation was more than I had budgeted for and so could not afford it. Fortunately I had a friend that stayed in the next city and had to put up with him for the time being pending when I would secure an accommodation on receipt of my allowance. 

 Fast forward to last week in November, NDDC officials in their numbers visited us (They surely spent more than half our entire allowance on their trip) promising we would now receive our allowances before the year runs out. Now in the second week of January 2016 we are yet to receive any allowance from NDDC or even assurance of when we will be paid. This is five months into a 12 month programme and not a dime has been sent to us. It might be surprising to note that the same NDDC has paid tuition fees to the schools since they know that the schools will not accept us without tuition fees which is far higher than the allowances we are supposed to receive but for some funny reasons they have refused to send a dime for upkeep(accommodation and feeding). 

 Most of us have tried contacting the officials in the scholarship department of NDDC and all we receive are rude responses giving us the impression we are begging for alms. Particularly one Mrs Sotonye, who is always so rude on the phone whenever she chooses to answer calls to her phone and would never reply text messages sent to her. My question is how do you send students abroad without giving them a dime for over 5 months? If there is no money for the scholarship why then send people out in the first instance? But surely this is not the case as tuition fees had already been paid. The idea of the scholarship is to relieve our parents of the financial burden of furthering our education because we are mostly not from wealthy homes. We have been forced to finds jobs even though these jobs cannot pay for our monthly house rent. The NDDC is not broke as to to say they cannot afford to send us our allowances. 

 It is sad to see corruption has killed every conscience in people as can be exemplified by NDDC officials in charge of the scholarship whom I wonder if they would love their children to be treated as such. With the recent ban by the CBN on the use of naira cards you can only imagine our plights as even our parents are helpless towards our situation. It is our hope the president GMB and the new acting chairman of the NDDC Mrs. Ibim Seminitari will quickly come to our aid. It is our prayers that the bad eggs in the NNDC whom have continually denied us our monthly allowances for months now will be investigated and prosecuted so that future beneficiaries of the scholarship wont be allowed to go through the torture we are currently going through. 

 Sometimes I feel regret... I feel regret because how do I bring out the best in me when i have to constantly remind myself that my next day food is not guaranteed coupled with the load of course work I have to battle at night after school. It is sad to see that the NDDC has truly failed. One cannot only but imagine that maybe allowances meant for us have been diverted for personal gains.

 Passengers travelling from Abuja through Okene in Kogi State have been stranded since 1pm yesterday, 20th January 2016. As i write this post at 2.30am today Thursday 21st January, 2016, i stand stranded among other passengers that have been so stranded since yesterday afternoon.
 According to a trailer driver who gave his name simply as Malam Garuba, the cause of the road blockage is said to be associated with the shooting of a trailer driver by a police man at a check point around the notorious Okene by pass.
 Information reaching us at our location indicates that there may not be movement on this one available road between Abuja and states in Southern Nigeria tomorrow as the shot trailer driver was allegedly denied treatment in the hospital his colleagues rushed him to at Okene as he was not escorted there by police men. 

    Meanwhile no police man is available to corroborate or throw more light on the issue as their story may just be different from the one painted by trailer drivers.
Some stranded paasengers spoken to say that they are praying fervently for relevant authorities to wade into the crises in order to arrest the situation.
