PDP is like an apple of Hesperides atop a perilous precipice – Patrick Obahiagbon

Former lawmaker and Chief of Staff to Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Patrick Obahiagbon, otherwise known as Igodomigodo has said that the newly formed All Progressive Congress, APC, is capable of sacking the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP from power 2015.
Former lawmaker and Chief of Staff to Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Patrick Obahiagbon otherwise known as Igodomigodo has said that the newly formed All Progressive Congress, APC, is capable of sacking the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP from power in 2015.
According to him, the federal administration, led by the PDP has not done enough yet, saying that the party is like an apple of Hesperides sitting atop a perilous precipice.
He said, “The formation of the APC is a salubrious political intervention in the polity. That the PDP behemoth has led the ship of state into avoidable economic cataracts and political ox-bow lakes is a fact too glaring and indubitable to be contested. Nigerians do certainly need an alternative credible political platform to checkmate the power megalomania of the PDP. The merger would work if its prime facilitators vigorously resist the temptation to be detained by their presidential calculations and allow the more sublime sentiments of enthroning the Nigeria of our dreams to propel the process.
You will agree with me that the PDP is just now like an apple of Hesperides sitting atop a perilous precipice and Nigerians are ready to embrace the APC as a veritable battle axe for their freedom from the political jobbery and carpet-bagging of the PDP. It is only now left for the opposition to show discipline, vision, altruism, patriotism and an historic commitment to revolutionary change. The leading luminaries in this effort to cleanse the Augean stables must resist the temptation of selling out and disappointing Nigerians at the end of the day.
Asked if President Goodluck Jonathan deserve a return, the gramarian said,
“I have consistently held the view that poverty is poverty whether it resides in the North, South, West or East and it is for that reason I thought, during the last presidential election and still do think, that the Presidency of Nigeria is too serious a subject to be reduced to parapoistic (conspiratorial) shenanigans. To answer the question if the Jonathan administration has met the goodwill with which it rode to power must lead to other epiphenomenal questions such as, what has improved today in the material conditions of the ragtag and bobtail since the president’s emergence and how has he deployed his powers in aid of the utilitarian matrix? It does appear to me that Nigeria is still a sleeping giant standing on spaghetti legs even today.”

Endometriosis: What You Should Know About Nike Oshinowo’s Medical Condition

A good number of women are probably achingly  familiar with menstrual cramps…you know, the back-breaking pain, light heaviness in the pelvic region and in severe cases, waves of nausea that accompany a woman’s menstrual period. Menstrual cramps are every woman’s worst nightmare and they are absolutely no respecter of person or time for that matter.
In a recent interview with the Vanguard newspaper, former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN), Nike Oshinowo revealed that she suffers from endometriosis, a condition which she said she’s lived with since she was 13. According to her,  she was hospitalised for 10 days the first time she got her period and the pain was so severe that she thought she would die! While quite a number of women suffer from severe cramps which leaves them hospitalised most times, endometriosis, however is not to be confused with dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps) as they are two separate conditions. Often times, women suffer from endometriosis but are not even aware of this condition due to gross misinformation so they simply chuck it up as severe menstrual cramps. However, based on Ms Oshinowo’s revealing interview, we did a little research and discovered some of the following:
  • Simply put,  endometriosis is a disorder in which the tissue lining the uterus(endometrium) grows outside the uterus thereby causing severe pains which worsens during the menstrual cycle.
  • Endometriosis occurs in the reproductive years of females and the cells are influenced by hormonal changes in the female similar to those which occur inside the uterus. It is also a common finding in women with infertility issues.
  • The exact cause is not known but there are theories that suggest that it is genetic in some cases, so people with family members who have endometriosis stand a higher risk of having it as well.
  • Symptoms include: chronic pelvic pain, severe menstrual cramps, painful sex, pain with bowel movement or urination during periods, urinary urgency/frequency, excessive menstrual bleeding,  throbbing, gnawing and dragging pain to the legs, constipation, fatigue, infertility.
  • Pain can also occur at any other time of the month apart from during the menstrual cycle. In rare and aggressive cases, it can also occur in young girls who have not yet had their periods and also with women who are past menopause. Women who have children also experience endometriosis.
  • Unfortunately there is no known cure for endometriosis asides pain killers of varying strengths, hormonal drugs to reduce the  endometrical growth each month and surgery – to reduce the scar tissues, endometrical growths and in severe cases a complete hysterectomy.
So do you suffer from the above symptoms or know someone who does? Help a sister out and share the knowledge. This list however is not exhaustive, so check with your gynaecologist to ascertain the exact nature of your condition and also get the relevant medication.

Super Eagles and Chelsea FC midfield lynchpin John Obi Mikel and a previous Miss Delta Soap Beauty Pageant Winner Sandra Okagbue are confirmed to be joined in holy matrimony.
After going steady for about 3 years, the two love pups have made a firm decision to make their relationship legal; they’ve fixed their introduction for Sunday, March 30 2013 at Sandra’s family home in Onitsha.
Reports from close friends of the couple say the news is no news as they’ve both been cohabiting as live-in lovers at Mikel’s UK home.
So we pressed further. Where did the love strike its first blow?  Right here in Nigeria when Mikel was on a visit to the country. They met, said hello, and fell love.

2face and Annie Idibia receive N12.6m Chevrolet Corvette Luxury Coupé gift from David Mark

One of the biggest gifts received by 2face and Annie, during their final wedding ceremony over the weekend, was the N12.6m Chevrolet Corvette Luxury Coupé.
The luxurious automobile was presented to the couple right after the wedding ceremony in Dubai, reportedly, courtesy Senate President David Mark, who hails from the same town as 2face; Idoma, Benue State. Mark did not personally attend the event.
The gift comes a few weeks after Akwa Ibom State Governor Godswill Akpabio blessed the lucky couple with an SUV gift when they visited the state for their traditional nuptials. Annie Uwana Macaulay is from Eket, in Akwa Ibom.
Again, there have been strong reactions and harsh criticisms over the very luxurious gift.
‘David Mark Rejected A Bill For Unemployed Graduates to be paid N20,000, yet he squandered money by giving a car for 2face as wedding gift‘, @HadiMusawa wrote.
But other reports suggest that it might not have been a gift from David Mark after all. Some blogs report that Kola Ologbondiyan, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to David Mark, allegedly claims the gift is not from the Senate President.
‘Senator Mark did not visit Dubai for Tiface wedding rather he attended the 128th Inter parliamentary Union (IPU) conference currently holding in Quito, Ecuador. He was also not represented at Mr. Idibia’s wedding.
It is also instructive to state that the President of the Senate, Senator Mark, did not make a car donation of any kind to Tuface before departing Nigeria for Ecuador neither did he purchase nor send any car to Dubai as a wedding gift for the musician or his wife‘, the statement read.
The controversial gift however came with a paper tag which read ‘Wedding gift from Senator David Mark to Tuface and Annie‘.

2015 Election: Goodluck Jonathan’s Plan Behind Ex-gov’s Pardon

Facts emerged on Wednesday that permutations ahead of 2015 were responsible for the presidential granted a former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, along four others.
Investigations showed that President   had recently come under pressure by ex-militants, who have increasingly become critical of his style of leadership.
It was learnt that  Jonathan was concerned that any restiveness in Niger Delta could rob him of the much- needed home support ahead of  the 2015  presidential poll.
A competent source in the Presidency  told The PUNCH  that the President was banking on the intervention of Alamieyeseigha, in reaching out the ex-militants, who believed that he (Jonathan) had not sufficiently addressed the problems in the Niger Delta.
Our source added that Jonathan  was equally aware of Alamieyeseigha’s  desire to return to the political arena   with a possible shot  at the Senate  in  2015.
Close associates of  the President  were said to have drawn  his attention to the fact that he could use his presidential powers to pardon  the former governor  thus solving  twin problems –  his  2015 challenge and the “political debts” he owed  the former governor.
His attention was also called  to the fact that this would not be the first time such powers came in handy  in  dealing  with potentially challenging situations.
Apart from Chief Obafemi Awolowo,  who was pardoned by the Gen. Yakubu Gowon regime, the administration of Shehu Shagari pardoned Gowon and Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu,  who returned and immediately joined politics.
As recent as 1999, the Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar regime pardoned Chief Olusegun Obasanjo,  who was convicted and given a long prison sentence by the Sani  Abacha junta for treason.
The pardon  paved the way for Obasanjo to contest and win the 1999 presidential election.
A source, who  confided in one of our correspondents, said, “Everything  is political. Alamieyeseigha  has a senatorial ambition;  the ex-militants are angry with the President. The President wants the man to intervene and speak with the ex-militants as 2015 approaches.”
However, a Special Assistant (Media) to the President,  Mr. Bolaji Adebiyi,  told one of our correspondents, “The idea of a presidential pardon was not novel; it is not happening for the first time; it is not perculiar to Nigeria and there is a process.
“People apply for pardon; they apply to the President who considers it and he follows the process.
“He takes it further to the National Council of State which in this case has given its advice, which will be gazzetted.
“It is not new;  so opposition political parties should not seek to politicise the normal process of government.
“If the opposition politicians are in doubt, their attention is called to the fact that one of those  in council was Gen. Gowon, who himself was pardoned by Shehu Shagari.
“There was also Gen.  Obasanjo,  who had to be granted pardon  before he could contest election  in 1999.
“Even Obasanjo himself had to pardon a former Speaker, Alhaji Salishu Buhari,  who was convicted of forgery .”
Meanwhile, a  former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has  said the pardon granted Alamieyeseigha and ex-Managing Director of Bank of the North, Alhaji Mohammed Bulama, is capable of stopping the war corruption.
Ribadu, in a telephone interview with one of our correspondents in Abuja, said the pardon  was very discouraging.
He  said, “I believe that corruption still remains the biggest problem confronting Nigeria. We should not do anything that will take us back. The action by government is capable of stopping the entire war against corruption.”
The former EFCC chairman recalled that Alamieyeseigha and Bulama’s corruption cases  were  investigated and prosecuted  when he was  the EFCC chairman.
He added, “These (Alamieyeseigha and Bulama) are two corruption cases that I personally investigated, prosecuted and got the convictions.  They were the first convictions we got in this country for corruption, not in the military tribunals, but by regular courts.”
Ribadu said that  by its action, the government had granted amnesty to people who were convicted of corruption.
“For them to have been pardoned, it like now more or less giving them amnesty. It is a sad development. It is very unfortunate. It is capable of affecting, negatively, the fight against corruption in our country.”
The former EFCC chairman said that the action would embolden those who  are  corrupt.
He said,   “It (government action) is sending a message that if you are found to be corrupt ultimately nothing will ever happen to you. You will be clean. You will be pardoned. It will  embolden those who are corrupt.
“There are people who have been convicted; I do not know whether they will be pardoned or not. I do not know what will happen to those who are being prosecuted today.”
Ribadu also said that the pardon granted  Alamieyeseigha  and Bulama  would send a negative message to the judiciary and law enforcement agencies.
“ The message that is sent to the courts and the law enforcement agencies is a very negative one. It is a  very discouraging act. Like most ,  I am very disappointed by this development.”
He stated that Alamieyeseigha  still had cases in the United Kingdom, adding the pardon would not affect the cases.
“He still has cases there. I do not think this pardon will be extended to the UK,” Ribadu explained.
Expressing his disappointment, he recalled that a former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori, whose case was treated shabbily in Nigeria had been convicted in the UK.
Ribadu also took a swipe at a presidential aide, Dr. Doyin Okupe, who justitified the pardon granted the former Bayelsa State governor.
Faulting Okupe, Ribadu said such comments were not only unfortunate, but unfair to Nigerians,  who had suffered and are still suffering because of corruption.
“There are more  150 million Nigerians who are suffering because of the terrible effect of corruption. Saying he (Alamieyeseigha) has suffered enough is very unfortunate,” he said.
Okupe had earlier on Monday, said the pardon was not a unilateral action of the President.
He said in a statement that the decision was considered and approved by the NCS, a body  constitutionally empowered by the 1999 Constitution to do so.
According to  him, the council   comprises the President, Vice-president, all former presidents, former Chief Justices of the Nigeria, the leadership of the National Assembly and all state governors who do not take decisions on impulse.
While explaining that the eight Nigerians who were granted  pardon were approved after thorough deliberations by the  council  members , Okupe  added that  granting of a state pardon should not be unduly politicised.
Okupe said the very idea of a pardon showed that it was meant not for the innocent but for those who might have been found guilty of some offences and have either finished serving their sentences or in the process of serving those sentences.
He added that the framers of the  constitution envisaged the need for some ex-convicts to be reintegrated  into the society, especially if they have shown penitence and willingness to contribute positively to societal growth.
Also, on a Channels Television programme, Sunrise Daily, on Wednesday, Okupe  said  the President did no wrong in pardoning his former boss.
He  said,  “The  relationship between President Jonathan and  Alamieyeseigha is not something that is hidden. The granting of pardon was not by President Jonathan per see but by the highest constituted authority in Nigeria; is not something I need to defend. They don’t need me to defend them;  I defend actions and activities of the President where they  are necessary.
“That is an action that has been taken by the National Council of States and I have no apology for that. “We must begin to respect and honour our institutions. I don’t need to defend the action that has been taken.”
When asked whether he did not feel that a presidential pardon for Alamieyeseigha would cast a shadow of doubt on the present administration’s anti-graft war,  Okupe wondered what else Nigerians expected from the former governor after he was removed for office and was convicted.
He asked,  “Is it because he  is Alamieyeseigha? Is it because he is a Niger Deltan? Is it because he is a former governor of Bayelsa State?  Is it because he is a friend of the President? I mean what are we talking about?
“A man has been found guilty; he has been jailed. A Yoruba adage says you ask a thief to run and  he runs, you ask a thief to drop what he is holding and  he drops it, what are you chasing him for again?”

Fighting corruption in Nigeria is beyond govt’s capacity — Buhari

’s former head of state, Maj-Gen. Muhammadu on Monday night in London, said the fight corruption in Nigeria was beyond the capacity of any government because the scourge was deeply rooted in the nation.
Buhari stated this at the 4th British- African Diaspora Conference the theme “Stable Democracy and Nigeria’s Economy”, held at the British House of Parliament, said corruption still remained the old and ever present devil that had eaten into all facets of life in the country.
“Until serious efforts are made tackle corruption which is beyond the capacity of the government, economic growth and stability will continue elude us.”
Emphasising the need for the cooperation of all in this all important campaign he quoted “The Chairman of one
of the bodies responsible for the task of fighting corruption in Nigeria, Mr Ekpo Nta of the ICPC, in a recent interview
with `Daily Trust’ newspaper of Feb. 14, 2013, as saying that “there is no political will to fight corruption in Nigeria’’. He said this stressed the need for all hands to be on deck in the collective fight to eliminate the scourge from the nation.
Buhari, however, said that Nigeria had the capacity to emerge as an economically competitive nation, adding that“democracy’’ cannot function optimally without the 2015 general elections. According to him, the present leadership of the electoral body is incapable of delivering a fair election, as it had a cosy relationship with the executive and the judiciary.
“INEC requires a group of independent minded people, patriotic and incorruptible, who have the courage and the capacity to handle such a strenuous assignment of conducting elections in Nigeria,” he said.
Speaking on poverty and wealth creation, the Former Head of State, and founder of the Congress for Progressive Congress (CPC), said there was no short cut to poverty eradication order than to get people to work and earn money.
To this end, he stressed the need to ensure that agriculture thrives with the provision of fertiliser, pesticides, and small
scale credits to farmers.
“Agriculture will boom within five to seven years if given proper attention and in addition the drift to urban centres
will be greatly reduced.”
“Equal attention should also be paid to the revival of employment generating activities, notably in the textiles industry
and other land and forest resources based industries to absorb urban labour in the drive to tackle poverty, reduce
crime and boost economy.’’
Also speaking, Malam Nasir El Rufai, a former minister of the FCT , said Buhari was persuaded to return to active politics even though he had earlier said he would never contest for the presidency after losing in the 2003, and 2007 elections.
El Rufai, while answering question on age limit for presidential aspirants, said “I believe strongly that its not about age but combining the wisdom of the old, and dynamism of the young to move the nation forward.’’
The organiser of the conference, Mr Alistair Soyode, Chairman of BEN TV said the conference was launched last
year as part of efforts to engage the Diaspora on developmental issues in Nigeria.

Alamieyeseigha, Others Deserve Pardon – Alhaji Bamanga Tukur

National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, yesterday, threw his weight behind the recent state granted by President Goodluck Jonathan former governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye , and former bank executive, Shettima Bulama, among others, saying they deserved the pardon and called for the understanding of .
This came as the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, faulted the president’s decision, describing it as pardon for criminality.
In a statement, Alhaji Tukur called for understanding by Nigerians on the matter, stressing that the beneficiaries of the state pardon deserved the merit based on their conduct over the years as well as the contributions they have continued to make in the task of ensuring peace, progress and prosperity of the country.
The Federal Government had, last week, announced pardon for Alamieyeseigha, Bulama and five others, including late Maj.-Gen. Shehu Musa Yar’Adua; former Chief of General Staff, Lt.-Gen. Oladipo Diya; former Minister of Works, late Maj.-Gen. Abdulkareem Adisa; ex-Major Bello Magaji and Alhaji Mohammed Lima Biyu.
The PDP national chairman, who berated opposition parties for incensing Nigerians on the issue through the media, argued that the idea of granting the pardon falls within the exclusive powers of the President as enshrined in the constitution, adding that Jonathan consulted widely before taking the step.
He said it was wrong for any political party, group or individual to harass President Jonathan for granting pardon to those who deserved such, stating that the beneficiaries of the pardon had over the years shown by their conduct that they deserved it.
According to him, granting state pardon to these Nigerians was a clear cut means of getting the best attitude out of individuals as instituted in the political programmes of different countries across the .
Tukur said in granting amnesty, the attitude and behaviour of beneficiaries were taken into consideration, whereas the contribution of each of them to national growth and development in little ways, according to him, made them to earn the pardon from President Jonathan.
His words: “I cannot understand why our people are politicising the issue of amnesty so granted by Mr President. The question is: do you grant pardon to the innocent? No! Amnesty is granted to those people government felt did some wrongs and after some time, their behaviour and attitude showed that the wrong they did was just a slip. We all call on our God to grant us mercy on the wrongs we do to Him minute by minute.
“The PDP did not see President Jonathan committing any breach of our laws by granting the amnesty. He allowed the constitution to guide his steps. More over, he consulted widely before taking the step and don’t forget that the government announced the amnesty after a council meeting.
“We should stop harassing him because those he had granted the amnesty to are responsible citizens of Nigeria who, in spite of the allegations them, have continued to assist the Federal Government, the PDP and their respective states to overcome certain challenges. We should learn to respect ourselves as a people and doing so would make us to continue to forge ahead as a country.”
In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Rotimi Fashakin, the CPC chided the president over the decision, saying “there is a self-serving agenda by the Jonathan regime ahead of the 2015 election.”
It said: “The power of prerogative of mercy granted to Presidents in various jurisdictions, though discretional, is expected to be exercised perspicacity and utmost circumspection.
“Though the ostensible and much-trumpeted reason is for national cohesion, we have on good authority that the main reason is a self-serving agenda by the Jonathan regime ahead of the 2015 election.
“Under the extant law, which prescribes a 10-year disqualification for any ex-convict, Chief Alamieyeseigha is ineligible for any electoral contest in 2015 since his conviction was done in 2006. As a party, we are aware of the burden of responsibility on us to lend our voice to the vociferous condemnation of this ‘pardon for brazen criminality’ by the Jonathan administration. ”
The party called on the Senate to commence impeachment proceedings against the president if he fails to review the decision of the Council of State.
It said: “Without any scintilla of doubt, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, as President, has ceased from serving the collective interest of the Nigerian people and the nation state. He seems more pre-occupied with political maneuvers, that are deleterious to the corporate existence of the Nation state, than ensuring good governance through enunciation of policies that do not offend the ethno-religious balance of the polity.
“It is, therefore, our considered view, in the CPC, that the Senate should mitigate this national embarrassment from the President’s action by suing for rescission of this amnesty order on Mr Alamieyeseigha and Mr Shettima Bulama or in the event of refusal, to commence impeachment proceedings for gross abuse of executive authority and total disregard for the feelings of the Nigerian people.”

2face & Annie Idibia receive their Prado SUV from Akwa Ibom Gov, Godswill Akpabio

and got a brand new Toyota Prado SUV from the Akwa Ibom state governor, Godswill Akpabio, as wedding gift. The state government today released a photo showing Annie and being presented the SUV by the state’s commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah.
Not only did governor Akpabio give them an SUV, he also promised fund the traveling expenses of 20 of Annie’s family members their Dubai wedding.
The generous wedding gift from the governor caused a lot of tongue to wag online forcing the Akwa Ibom State government to release a statement defending it. See their statement after the cut…
tuface_accepts_gifts
Following spurious and false speculations in the social media concerning the wedding gift by Governor Godswill Akpabio to Mrs. Annie Innocent Idibia, née Macaulay, I wish to state as follows:
That the Governor of Akwa Ibom State Chief Godswill Akpabio, donated ONE Prado jeep to Mrs. Annie Innocent Idibia, nee Macaulay a daughter of Akwa Ibom State and renowned artist during her traditional marriage at Eket. That the State Governor as a token of support for the couple promised to fund the traveling expenses (economy return tickets) for only 20 relatives of Mrs. Annie Idibia Macaulay to Dubai, where the couple have chosen to wed.
“That looking carefully at the surrounding events in perspective, Mrs. Annie Idibia, nee Macaulay is a daughter of Akwa Ibom State and the gift of a Prado SUV from her governor is only a gesture of love and goodwill. Her resolve to stand by her husband on his journey right from his days of youthful beginnings to stardom even in the face of challenges was commendable and a true attribute of the Akwa Ibom .
“That It is however unbecoming that mischief makers and enemies of progress have decided to inflame the social media with incongruous reports that the State Government is sponsoring an entourage of party supporters to the wedding in Dubai, when in fact the Government is only sponsoring the travel expenses of twenty of her family members at an estimated cost of roughly Three Million Naira (N3,000,000.00) only.
“I wish to therefore urge members of the public to discountenance the misrepresentations made out of a well intentioned act of the governor.”
The state commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah.

Uniben Girls Fighting Dirty At The Club (PHOTO)

Below is a picture taken of two Uniben girls fighting shamelessly in the club. The reason why they are fighting still remains unclear, but some say they had taken so much alcohol and suddenly both lost it, while others say the two girls were fighting for the attention of a rich man in  the club.
Either way, this is a very disgraceful act from two who should display class and integrity rather than trashiness. What is your take on this?

!!!!!!A 15 YEARS OLD!! HEART BROKEN MOTHER, HEART TOUCHING STORY !!!!!!!

!!!!!!!  HEART BROKEN MOTHER, HEART TOUCHING STORY !!!!!!!

A 15 years old mother was going with her 2 year old son to church and suddenly they passed a group of boys who started sending words to her: hey you bitch, you slut, a sex pervert.
Why didn't you wait to have sex ha ha ha you were thirsty of it, imagine at that age with this son?

They said alot of words to her but she kept quiet, then one boy from background said: what are you going to do to church you prostitute? Maybe you want to sleep with the pastor.

Then the young lady turned to them gently and said in a calm voice: who are you, to blame me for my sins? Are you sure you are clean in eyes God? Pray that what happened to me doesn't happen to any of your sisters or someone you love.

After saying that tears started running her face. But the boys laughed and said more words to her.
She continued and went to church.

As she passed, a man came and found the boys still talking and laughing at her, and said to them, do you know her?

They said: No

He said to them: this girl, when she was 12 and a half years, a group of men attacked their home. They killed her father and her Mum, they robbed all the things that they had in the house and as they were about to leave, one of them saw her hiding in the corner and they all raped her. So she doesn't know the father of her child and she has no where to stay.

The boys' hearts were filled with pity, and they regretted all they had said, they felt as if they should do all it takes to help her.

MORAL LESSON
Before you accuse someone, first understand the cause and why he/she did that thing.
When ur pointing one finger to someone, know that there are other three fingers pointing at you.
Let us not accuse each other but help each other.

LETS PRAY.
Oh God, forgive me for all wrong things i've done, whoever i've judged and whoever i have not helped.
Give me a helping heart not a judging heart and always keep your blessings on to me. AMEN.

Dee Dee Records Debuts

A new record label, Dee Dee Records, is set to make a mark on the Nigerian music scene as it unveiled its Nigerian artistes last week in Lagos.
Damien Iwumene, CEO, Dee Dee Records, said the new label is poised to take Nigerian entertainment to the next level. “We have been making noise in the US and we are known for what we do. Now we want to take the gospel back home and empower our youths. We have three American artistes and two Nigerian artistes so Dee Dee Records is one big cross-Atlantic family of talented artistes,” Iwumene said.
The label boss added that the two new Nigerian acts to join the label are Saint Leo (the masked one) and Indo, while its American-based artistes include Ptyte, Moses Efret and Masq Satrazy.
He also disclosed that the label is currently concentrating on releasing the debut gospel album of Effret, who also doubles as actor. The album is slated for June. His single, Na My Time, is available on YouTube.
“Once we are through with Effret, we will push out St. Leo and Indo’s albums. They are currently in the studio recording,” he added.
Founded in 2010, Dee Dee  Records is an independent record label based in the US. The company plans to venture into movies in the nearest future to promote Nollywood home and abroad.

My family abandoned me–Yaw

By SAMUELOKEKE
There is arguably no bigger star on radio at the moment than Steve Onu popularly known as Yaw. But he has not always been like this. His beginning was so rough that he jokingly said his shadow would refuse to follow him when the trekking was unbearable. Today, Yaw is a celebrity raking in millions and making millions happy. In this interview with The Entertainer, the On-Air-Personality shed more light on his life journey. Excerpts:
What is this year’s show all about?
What I am doing is basically satire every year. It is about what is happening in government of Nigeria, from last year to date, that is the beauty of the whole thing. So everything that you saw happened throughout 2012 and a part of 2013 are what we are going to re-enact. We would be using humour to pass our message. It’s just for you to come there live and hope you pick something. And my own definition of humour is just like you are using a rubber bullet to shoot someone, you didn’t intend to spill blood, but whether you like it or not, you fired. So, if you come on that day you watch, laugh and go home, and don’t pick anything that is left for you.
You included Funke Akindele this year?
To start with, I wanted to have a female and secondly, I was looking for someone who is versatile, someone that’s got creativity. Because most of the things we are working with, even though scripted, are like a guide. And we are bringing everything that has happened like I said, in Nigeria, and we have to mimic some people. So, basically I just told myself, I have not seen Funke on stage doing drama, that is why I said let me have Funke this time around
Would you say you are lucky to have made it?
I wouldn’t say it is luck, I believe in hard work, and the favour of God. I don’t think there is anything like luck, I joined the industry in 1995. 1995 till date is nearly 17 years. If you went to primary school, you would have graduated into secondary and even be moving to the next level. 17 years of my life I have put into this. I started with Twilight Zone, but I started up with normal home videos. I joined the movie industry when Ifeanyi Dike was AGN President. And I think he was the first president, if they had any president before him I can’t really say. Emma Ogidan was the next; I was there when he was elected. Then I left the industry, why did I leave? They never believed I had the talent, but I knew I had it. Along the line, I met RMD who told me to go study Theatre Arts; that he believed I would make it as an artiste or as an actor; that was what he told me. I then went to LASU in 1995/1996. I did Diploma in Theatre Arts at LASU. Later, I got admission into University of Ibadan, but I couldn’t stay in UI, I wanted Lagos, it was that period I did Twilight Zone. Along the line, I started a stage play, Flatmates, doing story with the BBC, and also applied for WAZOBIA. So, I wouldn’t say it is luck, I just believe its the grace and favour of God, secondly, it is hard work.
So, you never received a single day lecture in UI?
No. I stayed back in Lagos till LASU started degree programme and then went back to LASU to do a degree course.
A lot of Lagosians knew you through Flatmates. Would you say that was a challenging period for you?
In life, I have never seen anything as a challenge. I just see opportunities.
You became popular with WAZOBIA FM morning show and it was surprising when you became head of all presenters. How did you shoot up?
Yes, it was just Marshal and I that started the radio station. The radio station started in November 27, 2007 and we joined December 1, 2007.
Who were the presenters before you started, and how did you get the job?
Nobody, there were people who just played music, but not talking, till we joined. I was doing content supply. I had told myself before then that I was not going to write any letter of application because RMD had said I would make it as an actor. So, I had that in my head. I was concentrating on acting when Bunmi Davies took me to see Abrahim Abubakar in Cool FM. The man told Bunmi that they wanted to open a Pidgin radio station, that Bunmi can supply them content. I told Bunmi I would love to work there. I was called for interview, before then I took my friend, Lanre Dele Abraham’s CV, I changed all the places he wrote his name, qualification, and submitted, leaving qualities and abilities. The day for interview came, I folded my shirt, wore a jeans and Timberland and went to look for job. I got to the reception, I saw other applicants dressed in suits and ties. I told myself ‘see people wey come find work, no be me’.
My turn came, I was asked one or two questions, and to also list out my qualities and abilities, I couldn’t, so I said ‘oga make I tell you the truth nor be me write am, na my friend’s CV I copy’. They said among themselves ‘this guy is mad and this is the kind of person we need in our radio station’. That was how I got the job.
When I resumed at the radio station, Dan (Forster) called me and said ‘you just have to be yourself on radio, don’t be fake’. Then I used to read news, but this day I wanted to read news and I didn’t know where I kept the script, then I began to say ‘where I kip dis paper’. I didn’t know that my microphone was on. As I discovered, I continued ‘na witch people be no want make I read news for una, but shame to bad people, I go read dis news today’. Later, my boss came and asked me if that was a mistake. I said yes, he said ‘believe me that was natural, and that is what Lagosians want’.
The next day people called in to say ‘thank God today say witch no steal your papers’. From then on, I started to do a lot of things, just to improve myself.
How did you get the MTN job while still working in WAZOBIA?
They just called me to come and do it. I think it is what you said that is working, trying to build your brand, you get to a level and every other thing then starts to fall into place. I think I have done something earlier on for GLO. I think they used that only in the east, because it was strictly Ibo, then the BBC, I still do stuff for BBC.
What was your first day on radio like?
First day on radio, as usual you will be scared, trying to mind things you say because there are certain things you shouldn’t say. I might not remember the feeling, but part of the new things I said are some of my early experiences. But it wasn’t easy too, because they give you your script in English and you have to read it in Pidgin. It wasn’t easy in the early stage but with time you adapt.
Were you vast in Pidgin before WAZOBIA?
Not at all. In my house, we used to speak Yoruba language, and I’m Ibo. At a point, we changed and we started speaking Ibo or English because my father was particular about it. But I think my ability to also do that is because it is in me. When I say it is in me I meant I also studied theatre, as a theatre artist you should be versatile and should be able to do almost everything, and with time it grew. This is the 5th year I have been doing it, we are bound to grow.
At what point did you look back and say thank God?
In my house, people felt I was a useless person but the moment I started acting and they saw me in my first movie, they liked it. Then I took pictures with some actors and took them home. When they saw them, they started believing. In my mind, I said ‘thank God’ that is it. When that became a regular thing for me, I started the Twilight Zone, I became constant, and they see me on TV every week. I told myself that the money would soon come, that is it. When I started doing Face 2 Face at the Muson Centre, dignitaries came to watch, that was another break for me. Then we started Flatmate, which became more popular than Twilight Zone, it was on STV. Everywhere I went, it was YAW, YAW! Then when I started doing the BBC stuff, I said ‘na so people come recognize me reach’, I said thank God. Every point in time, I always thank God. Me, wey dey trek looking for how to survive, you don trek the kind trek wey your shadow go tire to follow you?
When did you get that feeling that you can begin to do MC and stand-up comedy?
I think it first started from school, during my diploma days. When I told myself it is just best to start acting comic roles, I discovered that early I just keyed into it.
There was a time you were so close to Ali Baba?
Up till now, I am still close to him. I love his movement.
I heard you impregnated a girl, is it true?
People just say things; I don’t discuss female issues with the press. Anybody can go out and write anything.
When will you marry?
Once it is time people will know, I am involved.
Now that you are a celebrity, I know many women would want to have a piece of you?
So far on my phone I think I have ‘don’t pick’ numbers up to fifteen. For some, they come out directly to tell you what they want. For those who don’t, they are your friends, but keep them at arm’s length.
What is the big deal if they want something, can’t you give it to them?
No. That I got it freely does not mean I should give it back freely.
You said at a point your parents didn’t want to see you, how bad could it have been? What happened?
Yes, it was that bad. Because I told them I wanted to do theatre, and I had to leave the house.
But now you are in good relationship with them.
They are in good relationship with me.
How many of you in the family?
We are 10, and I’m number seven.
How many wives did your father have?
Just one. And we call her ‘Abada’, that’s her nickname.  I am from Awka in Anambra State, we don’t call people auntie or brother, we address them by their nicknames.
When you left home who did you stay with?
I stayed with an uncle at Iyana-Iba Estate. One day, he sent me packing saying, he couldn’t continue to feed me. Then I stayed with a friend in that same Iyana-Iba, I lived with him for nearly two years. And those two years of my life I was lucky. Because that period, I finished my diploma course, I was just going to LASU to act, present and so on. From there, I went to stay with someone else; I was always staying with people because I could not afford to pay rent.

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts, Wednesday, threatened the former Minister of Information and Communications, Professor Dora Akunyili, with arrest and prosecution should she
fail to return vehicles belonging to the ministry in her possession within one week.

Also to return government vehicles or face similar treatment are a former Minister of State in the Ministry, Alhaji Ikra Bilbis, and the Permanent Secretary, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Engr Anthony Ozodinobi. The vehicles were said to have been attached to them while they held forte in the ministry.
The vehicles in question are four Toyota Hillux Double Cabin pick-up vans.
Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Adeola Solomon Olamilekan, who handed down the order after hearing the submission of the officials of the Ministry led by its Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Kehinde Ajoni, who appeared before the Committee over the queries raised against the Ministry by the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation, said all efforts to retrieve the vehicles from the former officials since 2010 had proved abortive.
The Committee therefore threatened that failure on the part of any of them to comply with the directive would lead to their being dragged before the court and charged for stealing of government properties in accordance with the law of the land.
"This is unacceptable, they should all return the vehicles in question within one week; failure of which they will be charged to court for stealing. The secretariat should write the three of them immediately to convey the decision of this Committee to them. The evidence before us showed that several letters had been written to them on the need for them to return the vehicles which they ignored," Olamilekan said.
Permanent Secretary, Ajoni, had told the Committee that the ministry had made spirited efforts to recover the vehicles but Akunyili only returned one out of the two in her possession, while Bilbis and Ozodinobi held on to the ones in their possession.
She disclosed that the vehicles in question were for the National Telephony Project and they belong to the Ministry. The vehicles were said to have been attached to the affected ex-officials and the auditors discovered that they were missing during auditor routine checks.

Kano Killings: Police, CAN Disagree On Casualty Figure

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and the Police Command in Kano, northwest Nigeria are in disagreement over the casualty figure of the killing of Christians at Sheka in Kombotso Local Government Area of the state. While reacting to Media reports that 13 people were killed during the massacre by gun men suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect, Kano state Commissioner of Police, Musa Daura who confirmed the incident, however claimed that only eight people were slaughtered by the Islamic militants.
But reacting to CP Daura’s claim, CAN chairman in Kano, Bishop Ransom Bello insisted that 13 Christians were killed during the attack.
Brandishing a list of the victims, Bishop Bello challenged the Police authorities to provide the list of the eight people they claimed were killed for clarification and threatened to make his own list public if the argument persists.
“I insist the number of Christians who were shot dead in that raid were 13. We have the record, their names and places of birth, and may be tempted to publish them in full if the argument on this figure continues,” Bello stated.
However, CP Daura described media reports of 13 victims as, “misleading and unfounded,” even as he denied being contacted, “by any individual or group on the issue.
“I want to make it categorically clear to the Press and the public that on February 28  at about 2200 hours, a distress call was received at the Control Room that unknown gun men attacked and killed innocent people in Shekar Madaiki, a suburb of Kano.
“Based on that ugly incident, armed security men were deployed to the scene, and search was conducted around the vicinity of the attack,  the security agents discovered eight dead bodies, while a number of arrest were made; and we intend to make the outcome of the investigations public,” Daura stated.
P.M.NEWS recalls that 13 factory workers identified as Christians at Sheka, Sharada Phase 111 in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano, northwest Nigeria were murdered in cold blood in their compound because they refused to join the Muslim evening prayers.
P.M.NEWS also gathered that already, the national secretariat of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has opened up investigation into the dastardly killings.
An eyewitness account told our Correspondent that the killers presumed to be terrorists from the camp of the dreaded Islamic Boko Haram sect stormed a compound in Sheka at about 7 p.m.
“The occupants of that compound are mostly factory workers, and they are Christians. The gun men who came on taxi asked if they were not observing the evening Muslim prayers; and when they confirmed their victims were Christians, they started killing them sparing only the female and children.
“After the attack, I counted at least, 13 dead bodies murdered in gruesome manner. Security agencies later came and evacuated them, while the very few of them who survived the attack fled the area and vowed never to return,” said a resident of the area.
Bishop Ransom Bello, CAN chairman in Kano has been in a very bad mood, not only because of the killings but what he described as the non-challant attitude of Kano state government over the incident.
Bello who is also the General Overseer of Calvary Life Assembly said he has handed over the matter to CAN’s national leadership, adding that with what is happening, it has become obvious that Christians are no longer safe in Kano.
“Reports of the attack reaching us disclosed that on that fateful Saturday at about 7 p.m, Muslim faithful were conducting their prayer close to the affected compound occupied by Christian families, when two taxi cabs stopped in front of the compound and the occupants, who all concealed  their arms dashed into the complex and  demanded to know why the residents were not part of the 7 p.m. Muslim prayer.
“They responded by telling the visitors they were Christians and so could not be part of the Muslim gathering. At that point, they separated the men from their wives and children and shot them dead on the spot after ordering the women and children into their homes. The 13th victim, who hid in a dark alley in the compound, surrendered himself, following threats by the gunmen to visit the same fate on the women and children if any man was found shielded,” Bello recounted.
“We are pained over the silence of the relevant authorities in the state, including the government on such a high profile murder. Even though we believe it is the handiwork of extremists, who do not see the reason why the Muslim North should accommodate Christians. We are really worried that nobody from the government has deemed it right to consol the family of those that were killed,” Bello lamented.
He added that, “government should show more concern, like it has always done when Muslims are affected; I have not seen that in the case of Christians—that 13 Christians were killed in one straight attack and nothing is heard from the government reflects selective justice because we are aware of compensation paid to Muslim families in situations of this nature.”

Buhari calls for Jega’s sack, accuses INEC of deep corruption

Nigeria's former head of state Muhammadu Buhari, has called for the sack of the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Attahiru Jega, and other top officials of the commission,
saying the electoral body, as presently constituted, cannot be trusted to deliver on credible elections.
Speaking in London at the 4th British-African Diaspora conference held at the British House of Parliament on the theme "Stable Democracy and Nigeria's Economy,", Mr. Buhari said sacking Mr. Jega and his lieutenants is a good starting point for fixing Nigeria's broken electoral system.
"All the present indications are that INEC as it is presently constituted would be unable to deliver any meaningful elections in 2015," the former head of state said. "INEC's top echelon is immersed deep in corruption and only wholesale changes at the top could begin to cure its malaise."
He said for future elections to be credible and hitch-free, government needs to do a clean sweep of the personnel at INEC, replacing them with Nigerians of unquestionable integrity.
"What is required is a group of independent minded people, patriotic, incorruptible but with the capacity to handle such a strenuous assignment of conducting elections in Nigeria. It is not difficult to find such people but whether the Government and the National Assembly have the inclination to do so I am not so sure." Mr. Buhari added.
He accused the Jega-led INEC of having developed "a very cozy relationship with Executive and Judicial arms of government that its impartiality is totally lost".
Mr. Buhari recalled that in the run-up to the last elections the electoral body "requested (and received with indecent haste) in excess of 80 billion naira (about £340m.) a hefty sum by any standards, so that it could conduct the elections including organizing bio-metric voters data specifically for the 2011 elections".
He said that but when opposition parties "challenged the patently dishonest figures it announced and subpoenaed the bio-metric data in court, INEC refused to divulge them on the laughable excuse of "National Security".
Mr. Buhari also spoke on a wide range of issues from state creation to zoning system, poverty and wealth creation as well as the 2015 general elections. He said the scourge of corruption is deeply rooted in the nation, which puts the fight against the menace beyond the capacity of any government.
Reiterating the view expressed in a recent interview by the Chairman, Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, Ekpo Nta, that "there is no political will (by government) to fight corruption in Nigeria", the former Presidential flag bearer of the CPC underscored the need for cooperation by all Nigerians in the campaign to rid the country of corruption in all its ramifications.
"Until serious efforts are made to tackle corruption, which is beyond the capacity of the government, economic growth and stability will continue to elude us," he noted.
He, however, acknowledged Nigeria's capacity to emerge as an economically competitive nation if the wrongs of political and economic corruption are corrected, adding that "democracy" cannot function optimally without a certain level of economic attainment.
According to the CPC chieftain, there is no short cut to poverty eradication other than to get people to work and earn their living, pointing out that there was need to ensure that agriculture thrives throughout the country through the provision of adequate incentives, like fertiliser, pesticides and small-scale credits to farmers.
He identified agriculture as one area that would greatly boost the growth of Nigeria within five to seven years, adding that the massive drift from rural to urban centres would be greatly reduced if proper attention is given the sector by government and other stakeholders.
He said attention should also be paid to the revival of employment generating activities through the small and medium enterprises, notably in the textiles industry and other land and forest resources-based industries to absorb the huge urban labour, in the drive to tackle poverty, reduce crime and boost economic growth.
A former minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nasir El-Rufai, who also spoke at the event, said Mr. Buhari was persuaded to return to active politics even though he had earlier said he would never contest for the presidency after losing in the 2003, and 2007 elections.
On age limit for presidential aspirants, Mr. El Rufai said he believed strongly that the issue was not about age, but about (Buhari's) "combination of the wisdom of the old, and dynamism of the young to move the nation forward."
The conference, organised by BEN TV, was launched last year as part of efforts to engage the Diaspora on developmental issues in Nigeria.
