Biafrans to wield weapons from Wednesday in self defense
Biafrans to wield weapons from Wednesday in self defense.
– IPOB members say lack of weapons has exposed them to attacks
– Separatists back new intention with acts and declarations of the United Nations
– Reject terrorists’ tag by any world leader.
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) members have resolved to start carrying guns in self-defence from Wednesday, February 17, 2016.
According to Igberetvnews, this disclosure was made by the Emma Nmezu, group’s spokesperson in Umuahia yesterday, adding that failure to carry arms had exposed its members to attacks and killings by security agents.
The statement read: “Now, we have come to the painful but irreversible conclusion and determination to take our fate and destiny in our own hands. Starting from Wednesday, February 17, 2016, ‘Biafrans’ will now be in the mode of self defence as enshrined by the relevant acts and declarations of the United Nations.
“Let no country or world leader attempt to tag us as terrorists because we are not terrorists, rather we are fighting for our survival and from being exterminated from the surface of the earth.
“We shall defend ourselves with everything and anything necessary to avoid the continual killing of our mothers, fathers, and children. This is the time for all Biafrans to rise and defend themselves. We cannot fold our arms and watch them kill us the second time after killing over two million of us in 1968.”
IPOB had in a statement last year September alerted the world on plans to provoke Biafrans into retaliation but got a tag of terrorist organization in return.
Meanwhile, Chris Adimora, the chairman of Anaocha branch of the NBA, commented on the repeating denial of bail to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Adimora shared his thoughts and observation with newsmen in his Onitsha office on Friday, February 12 thus: “The reasons adduced by the prosecution for refusing Kanu bail is not tenable. He did not commit any offence by having dual citizenship. He can’t be refused bail because his charges are still mere allegation which are not yet proven.”
OPC state chairmen call on EFCC to probe Gani Adams.
OPC state chairmen call on EFCC to probe Gani Adams.
– OPC state chairmen asked President Muhammadu Buhari to proble Gani Adams
– The Chairmen accused Adams of financial impropriety
– They alleged he received money from Goodluck Jonathan but failed to give members of the group.
Trouble seems to be breeding within the foremost Yoruba group, the Odua’ Peoples Congress (OPC) as some state chairmen called on security operatives to probe Gani Adams.
Adams who is the national coordinator of the OPC was referred to as a former OPC national coordinator by the chairmen. They also accused him and his aides, Ogunshola Olugbade and Femi Felix, of financial impropriety.
The Punch reports that Mr. Maruff Olanrewaju, the chairman of the Kwara state chapter of the OPC who spoke on Sunday, February 14 called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate Adams
In attendance were the Oyo state coordinator, Chief Adeagbo Musediq; his Ondo State counterpart, Mr. Rotimi Akinsonwon, a member of the national coordinating council, Mr. Lateef Oshodi; a former national publicity and director of programmes, Mr. Sunday Bankole as well as some other national and Kwara state executives of the organisation.
The Kwara state chairman said the Delta state coordinator, Mr. Hakeem Agbo-ola; the Sokoto state and Kaduna state chairmen, Alhaji Yekini Salaudeen and Alhaji Rasaq Ogunsanwo respectively and that of Bayelsa State though absent were in agreement with their position.
“We also call on President Muhammadu Buhari and the EFCC to investigate all Gani Adams banks accounts; Ogunshola Olugbade’s account as well as Femi Felix account from February to November 2015.
“Moreso, President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration should give very closed monitoring to the bank and industry sectors because how can someone within a month save more than a billion in an account without any alarm from the bankers?”
He accused Adams of planning to storm Kwara state with hoodlums and said He was received from his position as coordinator because he disgraced the Yoruba race in the presence of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
“Just of recent, you are all living witnesses when a former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo went to Oni of Ife, he prostrated flatly before Oni. But when Gani Adams went, he just bowed his head with hand shake to Oni. That is disrespectful.
Adams is a disgrace to Yoruba culture. When you are promoting culture and you cannot bow in front of one of the most highly respect Oba in Yoruba land that is unacceptable.”
Olanrewaju alleged that former president, Goodluck Jonathan gave Adams N1.6bn to empower members of the group but the money was not remitted to them“Adams promised our members that if Jonathan released money, each member will get between N200,000 and N250,000 as empowerment. When Jonathan released N1.6bn through Musiliu Obanikoro, for that empower, there was nothing to show for it.
“He should explain how Jonathan’s money was spent. Before the election, there was a publication by a former National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress now Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed that Adams had collected N9bn from Jonathan to disorganize the Yoruba race. We denied that but later we came to the realization that truly he collected the money.
“At the first meeting after the election, he told us that he spent N800m on OPU outside the country. Where did he get the money? He also bought some properties. After the election, he went to London to establish Odua Voice Radio, which cost him thousands of dollars. Where did he get the money from if he did not collect N9bn from Jonathan?”
“Adams should explain how Jonathan’s money was spent. We demand immediate reaction to the allegation of $22m Gadaffi money. He should show to the world the registration certificate of Olokun Festival Foundation, Oodua Economic Empowerment Initiative and that of Oodua Voice Radio,”
Adams was also accused of boasting that he would mobilise votes for Jonathan from the south west but he failed.

It was a horrible sight to behold as a 17-story building collapsed in the city of Tainan in Taiwan, Asia. However, the city’s police officers have apprehended the builder of the collapsed complex, Reuters reports.
According to Ellen Hsueh, a municipal spokeswoman in Tainan, she stated that the developer of the collapsed building known as the Wei-Guan Golden Dragon Building is in police custody with 2 of his colleagues. She said the name of the developer is one Lin Minghui.
Lin Minghui was arrested for criminal practices in relation to how he designed the building.
The actual cause of the collapse was as a result of an earthquake that occurred in the early hours of Saturday, February 13. At least 39 bodies were recovered by rescue operators from the site of the rubbles of the building.

According to New York Times, an earthquake struck Tainan in the early hours of February 13. Almost all the parts of the 17-storey building came down.
When the incident occurred, some residents who live close to the building were not fortunate as scores of them were killed.
Prosecutors have filed a case against the developer’s company. The charge is bordered on suspicion of professional negligent homicide. This is because there were some irregularities in the manner the building was constructed by the developer.

– She said he had raped her and gave his penis to the police as proof.
– The alleged rapist hanged himself after losing his manhood.
A mother-of-three chopped off her brother-in-law’s genitals while he was raping her before handing them in as evidence at a police station in India
The 32-year-old woman stunned officers when she entered the station in the Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh, clutching the severed organ.
The woman, who was accompanied by her three children, told officers that it was the only way to stop her brother-in-law attacking her.
The woman was staying with her brother-in-law as her husband worked more than 700 miles away, in Nashik, Maharashtra.
However, he had allegedly assaulted her many times while she stayed in his house.
She told police that she faked consent when her brother-in-law attacked her, before hacking off his privates with a sickle.
Before the police were able to get medical support to the injured man, he had already committed suicide.
“He allegedly committed suicide because of humiliation,” said town inspector Arti Chourate.
“Her parents-in-law didn’t come to know about the incident as the entire incident took place early in the morning and also because he didn’t make any noise.”
His body was reportedly found hanging from a tree near their house.
According to Sidhi police spokesman Abid Khan, the woman has been charged with attempted murder.
Indians have called for the death penalty to be used on convicted rapists
“This is a rare case and has to be investigated for a proper charge sheet,” he said.
“The accused woman is shaken…due to the entire episode. She is presently in the village. We have registered a case against her under section 307 and will soon take her in our custody.”
He later added that the woman is mentally stable and does not regret her actions.
This is the second incident in a week of a man’s private parts being chopped off in India.

State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) confirmed the attack on IDP camp in Borno state.
According to the agency two female bombers attacked a camp in Dikwa local government area at about 6:30 a.m., and detonated their explosive in the midst of thousands of helpless IDPs.
Satomi Ahmed, the chief of the state agency, told journalists that thirty were killed and seventy-eight people wounded in the attack. He also stated that the lack of a telecommunications network in Dikwa LGA meant that SEMA did not receive word of the attacks until Wednesday morning.
He said: “We were not informed of the attacks until this morning Wednesday. As soon as we heard SEMA and NEMA officials were on the scene. We evacuated seventy-eight injured persons to Maiduguri.”
Rescue workers who took part in evacuating the victims revealed that more than fifty-five people were killed, most of the victims were women and children.
The Boko Haram insurgents also stormed communities in the Damboa local government area on Monday, murdering at least seven people. News of this onslaught is just emerging because of poor phone network in that area.
The Nigerian army has announced today that the troops in an early morning ambush killed some sect members.
Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state recently confirmed the information that the insurgents do not control any community in Borno state.
The Boko Haram fighters also continue attacks on neighbouring countries. Double suicide attack rocked today the village of Nguetchewe in Cameroon, killing at least five residents.
However, the last month apparently was the most peaceful since 2013 year.

Budget 2016: FG Under Fire For Poor Provision For South-East
The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has criticized the federal government for poor provision made for the South-East in the 2016 budget proposed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Today.ng reports that the group expressed its dissatisfaction in a statement made on Monday, December 28, and signed by its secretary-general, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, and the forum chairman in the seven Ohanaeze states, Mazi Alex Okemiri.
Wondering why the federal government voted billions of Naira to the North-East, the OYC accused the government of deliberately marginalizing the South-East.
“The South-East is supposed to be declared a disaster zone going by long years of neglect. Nothing short of the scheme for Niger Delta Youths and militants and creation of the Ministry of South East Affairs will assuage the feelings of the suffer
ing youths who are the worst treated in the country,” the statement read in part.
The OYC also warned the Nigerian army not to repeat the alleged provocative killings it carried out at Onitsha and called on the military High Command “to fish out the soldiers that used life bullet on unarmed protesters, else we will write officially to the international Criminal Court over the matter”.
Members of the group wondered how could the army use life bullet instead of rubber and tear gas on unarmed protesters.
The council urged the security agents to arrest some people they described as impostors, who “have been going about claiming to be presidents of the council and extorting money from members of the unsuspecting public, and planning violent attack on the South-East states”.
The OYC highlighted that the Youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo is currently under the leadership of Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has recently explained how the federal government will source for funds to run the N6trillion budget for next year.
Buhari assured Nigerians that in spite of the fall in the international price of crude oil, measures taken to block leakages in the nation’s revenue generating agencies would ensure enough cash to fund the budget.
